How you can donate our body to Science

The Study of Anatomy

Anatomy is a basic discipline within medical training and all areas relating to the health sciences, both for undergraduates and postgraduates. Research in this area of science allows us to understand the origins of certain pathologies. Therefore, when someone decides to leave their body to science, it is a great contribution both to teaching and research in the field of anatomy.

How you can donate our body to Science

Donating your body to science is a voluntary, personal and entirely altruistic act because the donor never receives any reward for their donation.

To donate your body to science, you must:

  • Be legally of age
  • Go in person to the Servei de Donació de Cossos (Body Donation Service) of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili
  • Bring an up-to-date identity card or passport.

If you are unable to go in person to the Servei de Donació de Cossos, we will look into alternatives that will guarantee the transparency of the process.

If you have a “Living Will” stating that you wish to donate your body to science, you should inform the human anatomy unit and bring a copy of this card so you can be registered on the donor database.
